Wine and Graffiti? These seem to be two incompatible things at first glance, however ATU Winery, managed to combine harmoniously these two arts: the art of winemaking and the contemporary street art. Located at the entrance of the city Chisinau, its building facade will tell you that there is something different about this place. The passion for wine and art have facilitated the creation of an outstanding brand that promotes artisanal quality wines produced in limited lots of 1000-3000 bottles.
The history of ATU Winery starts with the founder Victor Vutcarău, who’s family has always been involved in viniculture. Since 2001 Victor’s family were growing numerous varieties of grape vines, becoming the best producer of vines on the local and Eastern European market. To have an own winery and to produce wine from own grown vines was an obvious sequel. So, in 2016, together with his wife Vlada, the brand “ATU” came to life, which in Romanian mean “a strong point”

Being the only winery in Moldova with its own vine nursery, which is one of their main strengths, they managed to revive an almost forgotten local sort of grape, called Codrinskii. The winery is focusing on rare local sort grapes such as: Feteasca Albă, Feteasca Neagra, Viorica, creating great sort and blend wines, highly appreciated at various wine contests.
At the winery ATU you will be met by Victor himself, who will share with you his story and will offer detailed descriptions of each wine you will taste. Being a small winery the all processes from grape harvesting to bottle labelling are done by hand, with the direct involvement of Victor and his winemaking assistant. At the end of the tour, each guest has the opportunity to leave his artistic mark on the guest wall of the winery.
