KaraGani Winery – Gagauz Traditions and Author's Wines
KaraGani Winery, founded in 2006 by the Cherven family, is an oasis of tradition and hospitality located in southern Moldova, in the heart of Gagauzia. With deep roots in the Christian Orthodox Gagauz culture, the Cherven family has turned their passion, passed down through four generations, into a successful business.
Visitors to KaraGani can enjoy premium wines made from both local and international grape varieties, with each glass accompanied by stories of the place and its traditions. In addition to award-winning wines, the winery offers a unique cultural experience through its private family museum, which features authentic Gagauz artifacts: family photos, handwoven carpets, traditional furniture, and even the grandmother’s wedding chest.
Hosts Lora and Gheorghe Cherven warmly welcome guests with traditional Gagauz dishes such as guzleme, kavurma, shurpa, and artisanal cheeses. Additionally, culinary workshops are organized for visitors to learn how to prepare authentic Gagauz specialties. Every visit offers an opportunity to explore Gagauz culture, enjoy authentic hospitality, and savor the rich flavors of the region.
Guests can visit the Winery only with prior confirmed reservations. Tours are conducted in groups and include transportation inside the underground galleries via an electric train. Prices are per person and do not include transport from Chișinău to the winery. Upon request, transportation can be arranged for an additional cost, ensuring a hassle-free journey to the winery.
