With the support of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova (CCI RM) and the GIZ Project, Winetours.md – the platform promoting authentic wine tourism in Moldova – is undergoing a major technological upgrade. This modernization aims to enhance the user experience, optimize the booking process, and prepare the platform for the integration of online payments, responding to the current market demands.
In recent years, tourist behavior has changed radically. Vacations have become shorter, bookings are made at the last minute, and online payments have become a must-have feature. As an emerging destination in international wine tourism, Moldova must quickly adapt to these trends to remain competitive.
"Customers seek efficiency and speed, and the online experience plays a crucial role in their decision to book a tour. If the process is complicated or requires too many steps, potential tourists may abandon the reservation. The goal of these improvements is to eliminate these barriers and make Moldova’s wine experiences as accessible and easy to book as possible," explains Veronica Tomescu, founder of Winetours.md.
The platform’s modernization includes a complete system refactoring, booking process optimization, and navigation improvements for mobile users.
✅ Migration from CakePHP to Laravel PHP – a crucial technological upgrade to provide a faster, more secure, and scalable platform.
✅ Optimization of the booking process – customers will be able to intuitively select the date, time, number of participants, and offers, avoiding the confusion caused by the previous system.
✅ Preparation of the platform for online payments – bookings will be completed through a fast and secure payment process, eliminating the need for manual confirmations.
✅ Optimized mobile version – with more than 70% of users accessing the site via mobile devices, optimizing for mobile browsing is essential.
These improvements mark just the first step in the transformation of Winetours.md. In the near future, the team plans to develop new functionalities and optimizations to further streamline the booking process and improve the management of tourism experiences.
The modernization of Winetours.md is not just a technical upgrade, but also a firm commitment to elevating Moldova’s wine tourism sector. Through digitalization and efficiency, Moldova is becoming a more accessible, attractive, and internationally competitive destination.
