The first edition of the World Wine Tourism Conference took place in the wine region of Kakhetia, Georgia in 2016, and the second was held in the wine region of Mendoza, Argentina, in September 2017.
The conference this year was attended by over 640 participants from 64 countries and regions. During the conference were held dynamic discussions, complemented by expert presentations that highlight the latest developments and success stories of existing initiatives, including the challenges of wine tourism.
At the official closing ceremony of the session, The Tourism Agency of Moldova officially took over the hosting of the 3rd edition of the World Wine Tourism Conference, which will be held in 2018 in Moldova. This event is an excellent opportunity to present and promote the wine and gastronomic tourism potential of our country to the largest and most professional audience in the field.
It is worth mentioning that countries such as the Kingdom of Spain and the Republic of South Africa have submitted applications for hosting the next edition of the conference. The decision of the World Tourism Organization (WTO) to host the 2018 edition of the World Wine Tourism Conference was in favor of our country, and can be firmly considered a real victory for the Republic of Moldova in general and especially for Moldovan wine tourism.
