The Classic Outdoor Music Festival DescOPERĂ returns with its 3rd edition

The Classic Outdoor Music Festival - DescOPERĂ comes back with a new edition. The Cultural - Natural Reservation "Orheiul Vechi" will echo for three days on the accords of Carl Orff, Giuseppe Verdi and the incomparable Johann Strauss. The event will take place from 15th to 17th of June in the Butuceni Natural Amphitheater, which provides an ideal sound for the symphonic orchestra and the voices of opera soloists.

Descopera 2018

The only open-air opera festival in Eastern Europe will begin this year with the most famous work of German composer Carl Orff - the monumental scenic singer Carmina Burana. Inspired by an overwhelming collection of 300 songs written during the 12th and 13th centuries, Carl Orff composed in 1937 the famous cantata bearing the same name as the literary original, whose fundamental and well-known fragment is "O Fortuna"! The composition will resonate on the Butuceni promontory on Friday, June 15, starting at 19:00 and will be performed by soloists Tatiana Costiuc (soprano), master in Art, Sorin Lupu (tenor / Romania), Andrei Otean (baritone) as well as Academic Chapel "Doina" (artistic director and first conductor Ilona Stepan, emeritus artist), on the notes interpreted by the Symphony Orchestra of the National Philharmonic under the magic wand of the Austrian conductor Friedrich Pfeiffer.

Descopera 2018

The DescOPERĂ festival will continue on the second evening with the four-act opera - Nabucco, considered to have established Giuseppe Verdi's reputation as a composer. The subject follows, during the four acts, the evolution of the condition of the Jewish people - from oppression to freedom. The premiere in Chisinau took place on 16th of October 1992 at the National Opera of the Republic of Moldova. The best-known part of the work is "The Jewish Slave Choir": Va, pensiero, sull’ali dorate ("Fly, Thought, On Gold Wings"). The opera will be directed by Andrea Battistini (Italy), the stage designer of the People's Artist Iurie Matei and will be directed by Friedrich Pfeiffer. Nabucco from Orheiul Vechi will vibrate under the voice of the soloists, the orchestra, the choir and the ballet of the National Opera and Ballet Theater "Maria Biesu".

The third evening of the festival traditionally is dedicated to the King of Waltz - Johann Strauss. The soloists Tatiana Costiuc (soprano, master in Art), Vitalie Cibotaru (baritone) and the symphonic orchestras of the National Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Friedrich Pfeiffer will reinterpret the famous The Blue Danube Waltz - the symbolic symbol of Austria, composed in 1866, and reinvent it on the waves of Raut.
