Ilie Gogu Winery

Under Ilie's supervision, the lengthy wine-making process takes place – starting from planting the vine cuttings and harvesting of grapes and until bottling of wine. He monitors each stage of the production and makes considerable efforts to obtain a select, high-quality product.

The company's vineyards are situated in the most suitable wine-making area of Moldova – the Southeast. Each year, by increasing the area of its vineyards, the company guides itself by the main rule – production of select, quality and exclusive wines. Because of this, the number of produced bottles is usually limited.

Geographically, this zone makes part of the Stefan Voda region. The combination of a large number of sunny days and hilly landscape creates a unique terroir, which influences the character of virtually any grape variety grown in this region. While the vast majority of winemakers from this zone put a stronger emphasis on red grape varieties, which allows them to obtain an intense flavor and unique aroma in their wines, Ilie Gogu has decided to favor white varieties when planting his vineyards. Such varieties as the indigenious Feteasca Alba. Feteasca Regala, Viorica and Riton, as well as European Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, have rapidly drawn attention thanks to their rich aroma. Meanwhile, the red varieties have not been forgotten at Gogu Winery, which also grows such varieties as the European Cabernet Sauvignon,  Merlot and Malbec, the legendary Georgian Saperavi, and local Feteasca Neagra.

From the moment of its launch on the market in 2014, Ilie's wines immediately received highest recognition from national and international experts. Thus, in 2015 they were awarded two golden medals at Asia Wine Trophy 2015, and at the Bucharest International Wine Contest 2015,  Berliner Wine Trophy in 2016.

"GoguWinery" wines have character and contain a harmonious palette of refined taste in line with the best wine-making traditions from Moldova.

In 2017, next to the production section located right in the yard of the Gogu family house, a tasting room was built, where visitors can taste the wines, directly from the cellar in combination with local cuisine. The tasting room quickly became a local attraction and part of many wine tours. At the same time, the construction of a separate production space began, which would allow the production of larger quantities of wine and the accommodation of more guests.
