Soon in Republic of Moldova will launch two new thematic routes Following footsteps of Poles in Moldova - "Routes to the Roots" and Following footsteps of the Germans in the Bassarabia - "Routes to the Roots", dedicated to tourists from Poland and Germany. In this regard, the company Winetours Moldova took part recently in an informative tour to get acquainted with the new route. "Routes to the Roots" is a project developed and funded by the USAID Competitiveness Project Moldova, being implemented by the Association of Tour Guides, Lecturers and Translators in Moldova.

Both routes are designed to attract tourists interested to know Moldova as a multiethnic destination. The program includes visits to the most important architectural monuments, as well as settlements and colonies founded by Polish and German communities, reflecting the past and present of Polish and German citizens in Moldova. Historical aspects of the route will be paired with wine and cognac of the highest quality, during visits to famous wineries, recognized nationally and internationally.

Following footsteps of Poles in Moldova - "Routes to the Roots"  will follow the route Chișinău-Orhei-Soroca-Cosăuţi-Soloneţ-Stîrcea-Glodeni-Bălți and Chișinău. It will include sights of historical value for the Poles, among them: the Roman Catholic Church of the Assumption (Orhei town.), Manor house with a park of the Polish nobleman Constantine Brzozowski - mill and manor cellar (v.Solonets, r.Soroka) Soroca Fortress, the Museum of Ethnography of the village Cosăuţi and the Cosăuţi Monastery of the Virgin.

The tour Following footsteps of the Germans in the Bassarabia - "Routes to the Roots"will last two days and will follow the route Chișinău - Anenii Noi - Ștefan Vodă - Purcari - Crocmaz - Pervomaisk - Marienfeld - Mileștii Mici or Puhoi - Chișinău. Participants will become familiar and will be able to admire all the tourist attractions of the settlements will be able to taste the wine and traditional dishes with authentic influences of various cuisines and which still retaine traces of the local culture. The tour will begin with a visit to the cities Anenii Noi and Ștefan Vodă, a former German colony. Since vine and grape cultivation was the main source which ensured the existence of the German settlers in Bessarabia, tourists can visit some of the most important wineries. In another former German colony, participants will be able to visit a sheepfold, where will taste raw cheese. The visit will be completed with a fair of crafts, dances and songs in the local interpretation of the folk ensemble, covering the diversity of products that tourists can benefit on this route.
