Beautiful results at the 10th edition of the Wine Vernissage, Cuvée Jubilee

More than 1,000 people - officials, foreign guests, special guests, journalists, bloggers and wine enthusiasts - participated in a traditional event, but in a special interpretation, the 10th edition of the Wine Vernissage, called Cuvée Jubilee.

The anniversary edition was held for the first time outdoors in a pleasant spring atmosphere, on an area of 800 m2. The decor was completed with peonies and spring flowers, the theme of spring flowers was reflected in the colors of the event and the suggested Dresscode.

Over 200 wines tasted

The event offered for tasting over 200 select wines, typical to the season - white and rosé, exhibited by 31 wineries producing premium quality wines, united under the country brand Wine of Moldova. Of these, 24 are wineries large: cornflowers, Albăstrele, Asconi, Bostavan, Castel Mimi, Călărași, Chateau Vartely, Cimișlia, Cricova, Dionysos Mereni, Fautor, Garling, Gitana Winery, Ialoveni, Maurt, Migdal-P, Mileștii Mici, MoldNord, Nisporeni, Purcari, Sălcuța, Suvorov Vin, Kazayak și Vinăria din Vale, Vinuri de Comrat. Seven of the participants are small wine producers: Carpe Diem, DAC, Equinox, EtCetera, Mezalimpe, Minis Terriors, Vinăria Poiana.

Every visitor of the event received a glass with the logo "Wine of Moldova", perfect for enjoying properly the taste and aroma nuances of fine wines, as well a brochure with tasting notes. In addition, visitors had the opportunity to purchase wines directly from producers at special prices, but also to participate in two raffles of the anniversary edition. As prize winners received bottles of fine wines.

Wine Tours

For the first time at the Wine Vernissage, a Tourism Information Desk was organized, where many guests of the event were able to learn about the latest offers in wine tourism, proposed by Winetours Moldova.

New wines releases

The Wine Vernissage Wine has become an event where new seasonal products are released by participating winemakers. The Anniversary Edition brought to public attention 32 new wines: Bostavan – Rose; Castel Mimi – Fetească Albă 2015, Muscat 2015, Rosé 2015; Chateau Vartely – Individo Fetească Regală Riesling, Individo Rosé; Cimișlia – Vero di Moscato; Cricova – Pinot Grigio, IGP Chardonnay, Fetească Albă; EtCetera – Rose 2015; Fautor – Albariño 2015 ediție limitată, Merlot Rosé 2015, Chardonnay 2015, Rhein Riesling 2015; Maurt – Bacio di Bolle Gold Edition; Mileștii Mici – Sauvignon IGP Codru 2015, Riesling IGP Codru 2015, Merlot IGP Codru 2015; Mezalimpe – Rosé 2015; Minis Terrios – Rosé (Fetească Neagră) 2015; Nisporeni – Petiant, Petiant Muscat; Vinăria din Vale – Fetească Albă IGP 2015 , Sauvignon 2015; Asconi - Feteasca Albă, Cabernet Sauvignon 2015, Sauvignon Blanc 2015; Călărași - Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, spumant Status Regal; Minis Terrios - Sauvignon Blanc 2015.

International award-winning wines present at Vernissage

Among the hundreds of seasonal wines present at the event, guests had the possibility to taste products, that were awarded with medals and rewards at the most important wine competitions in the world. This year, 123 wines produced in Moldova were recorded in international competitions. As a result, 81 of them were honored with international awards.

The awards of the anniversary edition

According to tradition, every visitor has voted for the preferred wine. As a result, two wines have received the highest award of the Spring Edition: „Vinohora în Alb” Feteasca Albă Chardonnay 2014 from Vinăria Purcari and „Individo Rosé” Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2015 from Chateau Vartely.

On the anniversary edition, two special prizes were awarded, to personalities who have made a significant contribution to the development and promotion of the event and wine. "The Cavalier of the Wine Vernissage" was awarded to Mr. Sergiu Botezatu (senior project manager USAID Moldova) and Mrs. Taran Anghelina (local wine journalist, Logos Press).

Culture and social responsibility

The event was hosted by Mr. Eugene Bulgaru and Mrs. Vasilica Marinela Ardelean, international expert in wines, the author of the "Wine Book of Romania". The volume, which includes 43 Wines of Moldova as well, was released at the Wine Vernissage, connoisseurs and wine enthusiasts had the opportunity buy it at the event. The festive atmosphere of the Vernissage, but at the same time relaxing, was upheld by the band "Divertis Duo," which performed instrumental compositions in the style of "chanson française". Guests of the Wine Vernissage had a nice surprise: ballerinas from the ballet studio "Soarele", the oldest ballet school in Moldova, with a history of 65 years, provided a great show. They danced to the music accompanied by the saxophonist Cristian Tarsu, the beneficiary of the previous edition of the Wine Vernissage, whose saxophone was purchased from the sale of tickets to the Wine Vernissage. The revenue from the tickets sale for this edition of the Wine Vernissage, will be again donated to support young talents. Beneficiaries of the anniversary edition will be the talented young people from Ballet Studio "Soarele", which will be able to purchase costumes and props for performances.
